On March 19, 2019, Vice President Wang Qishan met at Zhongnanhai with the Philippine government delegation composed of Foreign Secretary Teodoro Lopez Locsin, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez as well as Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi of Pakistan on separate occasions.

When meeting the Philippine government delegation, Wang Qishan expressed that the sound development of bilateral relations benefits from the friendly exchanges between the two peoples for over a thousand years and the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries in recent years. Peace is the prerequisite of development, and both Chinese and Filipinos hope to live a better life through peaceful development. We should strengthen understanding of each other's past and present, consolidate the foundation of mutual trust, pursue common development, share opportunities and plan for the future, so as to make the China-Philippines comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership more mature and jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity. The Chinese side appreciates the measures taken by the Philippine side for development, and stands ready to work with the Philippine side to keep the momentum of frequent high-level exchanges, comprehensively implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries, and deepen practical cooperation in various fields and exchanges of experience in state governance and administration.

The Philippine side noted that the Philippine government is committed to pushing forward relations with China and stands ready to take an active part in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, so as to add greater impetus to the friendship between the two countries.

When meeting with Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Wang Qishan expressed that China and Pakistan are good neighbors, and the friendly relationship between the two countries has stood the test of times and the changing international situation and won the sincere support of the two peoples. Leaders of the two countries frequently met in recent years and the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership has yielded continuous progress. Establishing good-neighborly and friendly relations and creating a good surrounding environment on the basis of mutual understanding and mutual trust is an important condition for a country to achieve peaceful development. The Chinese side supports the Pakistani side in seizing opportunities and tackling challenges, and properly handling relations with its neighbors, to achieve stable development. It is hoped that the two countries would continue to deepen all-around cooperation, and promote the progress of the first experiment and practice projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed that the Pakistani side appreciates the Chinese side's constructive role in moderating tensions between India and Pakistan and will continue to enhance cooperation in various fields with the Chinese side to promote bilateral all-weather strategic cooperative partnership to a new level.
