Chinese Ambassador Meets with Party Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City
2026-06-24 11:25

On June 23, Chinese Ambassador He Wei met with Mr. Tran Luu Quang, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ambassador He stated that as China and Vietnam accelerate the building of a higher-level community with a shared future of strategic significance, cooperation between local governments of the two countries is entering a golden period of opportunity.  He expressed hope that Ho Chi Minh City would seize this momentum, uphold a people-cantered development philosophy, fully leverage its role as the “locomotive” of Vietnam’s economy, deepen exchanges and cooperation with Chinese provinces and cities, explore pathways for modern governance of mega-cities, and strengthen collaboration in infrastructure, industrial and supply chains, and the digital economy, together forging a new pattern of local cooperation characterized by mutual empowerment and win-win outcomes.

Mr. Tran noted that as the economic engine of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City bears the important responsibility of pioneering new growth models and leading the nation into a new era of development. He said the city is committed to advancing people-oriented, sustainable development. Learning from China’s successful experiences, Vietnam devotes to enhancing cooperation in urban governance, smart city construction, and rail transit—injecting new vitality into the development of Vietnam–China relations.
