On the eve of the Qingming Festival, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam led by Ambassador He Wei paid tribute to Chinese martyrs of the Vietnam War at the Dao My Cemetery in Bac Ninh Province. Embassy staff, representatives of Chinese enterprises and media in Vietnam, local officials, and veterans of the Vietnamese military who fought in the war attended the ceremony.
Ambassador He read a commemorative address, hailing the martyrs for building a monument to China-Vietnam “comrades and brothers” friendship with their blood and lives. He noted that today’s China stands as they had wished, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation has become an irreversible historical process, and China-Vietnam relations have entered a second “highlight moment”. He pledged that future generations will carry forward the martyrs’ legacy and continue to benefit both countries and their peoples through the robust development of bilateral ties and respective modernization.
The Dao My Martyrs Cemetery is the largest cemetery for Chinese martyrs in Vietnam, holding the remains of 217 Chinese martyrs who died aiding Vietnam during the Vietnam war. |
