On June 30, Ambassador He Wei met with Nguyen Van Quang, Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Secretary of the Da Nang Municipal Party Committee.

Ambassador He Wei congratulated Vietnam on the successful completion of the important reform of merging provincial-level administrative units, noting that the newly adjusted Da Nang enjoys a first-mover advantage in the new round of reform and opening-up and will play a greater role in Vietnam’s economic and social development. He expressed hope that Da Nang will seize the historic opportunities arising from the development of China–Vietnam relations, take the consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties as guidance, and add luster to the building of a China–Vietnam community with a shared future through high-quality subnational cooperation.

Nguyen Van Quang stated that Da Nang will focus on scientific and technological innovation, development of a free trade zone, and the building of a financial center, striving to become a pacesetter in economic development in central Vietnam. China is Vietnam’s most important cooperation partner, and the Vietnamese side looks forward to sharing in China’s development dividends and advanced experience, jointly creating a new model of local cooperation between the two countries, and enriching the substance of the Vietnam–China community with a shared future.
