The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam hosted a Tea Gathering Themed “Sharing the Red Lychee, Celebrating Comradeship”
2025-06-07 17:05

On June 6, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam hosted a tea gathering themed “Sharing the Red Lychee, Celebrating Comradeship”. Ambassador He Wei attended the event together with young diplomats from the Embassy. Representatives from more than ten major Vietnamese media outlets—including Nhan Dan (People’s Daily), Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam, and Vietnam Television—as well as Chinese media stationed in Vietnam and youth delegates from Vietnam’s first “Red Study Tour” program took part.

At the event, young diplomats from the Embassy, Vietnamese media representatives, and youth delegates shared their thoughts and perspectives. Ambassador He Wei offered on-the-spot comments, encouraging both sides to carry forward the traditional friendship, explore and make good use of red (revolutionary) resources, strengthen unity and cooperation, jointly address challenges, and contribute greater youth strength to the building of a China–Vietnam community with a shared future.

After the event, representatives from both sides took a group photo beneath the lychee trees in the Embassy courtyard.

After the liberation of Hanoi in 1954, Vietnamese revolutionary leader President Ho Chi Minh personally decided to designate No. 46 Hoang Dieu Street as the site of the Chinese Embassy. In those early years, whenever the lychees in the Embassy ripened, the Embassy would select the largest and sweetest fruits to share with President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese comrades.
