Li Keqiang Holds Talks with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov via Video Link

On the afternoon of June 8, 2021, Premier Li Keqiang held talks with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov at request at Ziguang Pavilion of Zhongnanhai leadership compound via video link.

Li Keqiang said that China and Uzbekistan are friendly neighbors and comprehensive strategic partners. Not long ago, President Xi Jinping and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a fruitful telephone conversation to design the development of the bilateral relations. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, China and Uzbekistan have been supporting and helping each other to push forward pragmatic cooperation, which has played a positive role in the two countries' economic recovery. China stands ready to work with Uzbekistan to conduct closer high-level exchanges, strengthen mutual political trust, deepen practical cooperation across the board, and bring the bilateral relations to a new high.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China will join hands with Uzbekistan to fight COVID-19, provide Uzbekistan with aid within its capacity, support companies from the two countries to carry out joint vaccine production based on the principle of mutual benefit and win-win results. He hopes that the two sides can deepen cooperation in all fields in line with market principles and business rules to better benefit the people of both countries. China is willing to facilitate the customs clearance of agricultural specialties from Uzbekistan. Noting that 2022 will mark the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, he hopes that two sides could take this opportunity to hold celebrations in various forms, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and cement mutual understanding and traditional friendship between the two peoples. China stands ready to work with Uzbekistan to enhance coordination and cooperation under the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to contribute to post-pandemic recovery and livelihood improvement for regional countries.

Abdulla Aripov said, Uzbekistan and China are comprehensive strategic partners and see sound development of the bilateral relations. He thanked China for the timely aid to Uzbekistan in fighting the pandemic, and extended the wish to enhance cooperation with China in pandemic control. He called on the two countries to give full play to the intergovernmental cooperation committee mechanism, further explore and deepen cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and connectivity to push for greater development of bilateral relations. He said that Uzbekistan stands ready to work with China to enhance coordination and cooperation under the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
